Child Care Provider at Grateful House

Job Description

The Way Back Inn is seeking a part time child care provider for our Family Group.  This position will provide a safe play environment for children from 2 – 13 years of age while their parents attend a Recovery meeting in a nearby room.  Ideally candidates will have experience in early childhood development as well as experience in addictions and recovery. 

The group will meet each Sunday from 9am -11am, and this position will work one hour before for set-up and one hour after for clean-up.  Work hours Sunday 8am-12am.


1) Observe and monitor children’s play activities.

2) Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.

2) Read to children, and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs.

4) Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games.

5) Assist in preparing food for children and serve meals and refreshments to children and regulate rest periods.

6) Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.  Sanitize toys and play equipment.

7) Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
8) Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to parents’ or guardians’ attention.

Knowledge, Experience, Education

1)Education – Minimum requirement is a high school diploma.  Progress towards a degree in a related field is preferred.  Certification in early childhood education and experience with addictions is preferred. 

2)Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

3)Psychology — Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

4)English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Way Back Inn Outreach and Admissions Specialist

The Way Back Inn is seeking a qualified candidate for a full time position of Outreach and Admissions. 

A qualified candidate will have an advanced understanding of addictions, good customer service skills, and the ability to work with a variety of clientele.  Work with other referral sources both on the phone as well as during resource fairs.   Candidate needs to have excellent communication skills as well as computer skills; Microsoft, excel, WBI data entry system.

40 hours a week

Some weekend and evenings for community outreach engagements
